Get to Know Our Caregivers
Finding the right caregiver is personal. It is not just about skills or experience, though those matter. It is about trust, consistency, and knowing that the person showing up at your loved one's door is genuinely good at what they do and good to the people they care for.
AccuCare has placed trusted home caregivers in St. Louis homes since 1994. Here is how we make sure every one of them is someone we would trust in our own family's home.
How We Select Our Home Caregivers in St. Louis
Every AccuCare caregiver goes through a thorough screening and onboarding process before they ever meet a client. That process is not just a formality. It is how we protect the people in our care.
Our screening process follows the requirements established by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Each caregiver is checked through the Family Care Safety Registry and the Office of the Inspector General, which covers criminal history, sex offender registries, employee disqualification lists, and child abuse and neglect records across multiple Missouri state agencies.
For caregivers who live or have lived in Illinois, we conduct an Illinois State Police background check and obtain driving records from both Missouri and Illinois, as applicable.

What Families Tell Us Matters Most
Experience and background checks are the baseline. What families tend to notice, and talk about, is something harder to put on paper: a caregiver who shows up on time, remembers the small things, and treats their loved one with genuine warmth.
That is what we look for when we hire. And it is what we continue to look for as we assign the right caregiver to each client based on their personality, preferences, and care needs.
A nurse is involved from the very beginning, conducting the initial assessment and building the care plan that guides every visit. When something changes, our nursing team adjusts the plan and keeps the family informed.
